Taxin’ Tom Nelson’s Social Security Hypocrisy
[Madison, Wis.] – It’s been weeks since independent fact checkers rated Taxin’ Tom Nelson’s Social Security attack ads false, but Nelson doesn’t seem to care. Even worse, Nelson’s record isn’t good for seniors. As a legislator, Nelson voted to keep taxes high on Social Security benefits.
“When the chips were down, Tom Nelson voted to keep taxes high on Social Security benefits,” said Pat Garrett, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “It’s no surprise, Nelson’s record is nothing but more taxes on hard-working Wisconsinites. His false attacks and behavior will only continue because he’s not going to let anything get in the way of advancing his political career.”
Tom Nelson is Trying to Scare Seniors while Shielding His Own Record
- The independent FactCheck.Org called Tom Nelson’s attacks on his opponent, “false” and “inaccurate.”[1]
- Nelson claims he wants to protect Social Security, but he took a vote resulting in higher taxes on benefits.[2]
- Even worse, Nelson has refused to discuss his “false” attack ads with local media.
Nelson will do whatever it takes to smear others and advance his career, and that’s exactly why voters can’t trust him in Congress. Get the facts at www.therealtomnelson.com.
