WISGOP Calls on Senator Feingold to Support Right-To-Try
[Madison, Wis] – Yesterday, common-sense legislation to give terminally ill patients the ability to receive experimental medical treatment was blocked by the petty politics of Washington Democrats. The Republican Party of Wisconsin is calling on Senator Feingold to support the legislation and join Johnson to stand with Wisconsin patients over his own party.
Ron spoke on the Senate floor saying, “[it is] a sad day in the U.S. Senate when the minority leader of the Senate would turn his back on terminally ill patients and their families — deny them that freedom, that right to try, that right to hope — to score a political point.”[1]
Johnson’s campaign has also called on Senator Feingold to weigh in on the legislation, but we have heard nothing.[2] Ron Johnson sponsored the legislation, and has been an advocate for this measure for months. Unfortunately despite the bipartisan support, Harry Reid and now Russ Feingold are choosing to side with politics, not patients.[3]
