When Sen. Baldwin Had the Chance to Protect Wisconsin’s Heroes, She Defended the Washington Status Quo Instead

Madison, WI]— As Senator Baldwin turns her attention towards November, it’s no surprise she wants to rewrite history at the Tomah VA. She was the only member of Congress to receive the official inspector general’s report documenting the over prescription of opioids at Tomah. Sen. Baldwin sat on the report and failed to act. Then, when media began asking questions, Senator Baldwin’s first move was to blame it on a staffer and engage in a cover up.
“Senator Baldwin had the chance to stand up for Wisconsin’s veterans years ago when she was the only member of Congress to receive the official inspector general’s report on abuses at the Tomah VA,” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “She not only failed to protect our veterans but engaged in a cover up to protect her own political future. Senator Baldwin’s record is one of regularly protecting the Washington status quo over Wisconsin heroes.”
