Radical Russ Feingold Consistently Opposed Balancing the Budget
The Washington Insider Voted Four Times Against a Balanced Budget Amendment
[Madison, Wis.] – Today, the GOP-controlled Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing to discuss ways to address the expanding national debt of our federal government. As spending continues to spiral out of control, Republican lawmakers have repeatedly called for a Balanced Budget Amendment to get America’s fiscal house back in order. This common-sense legislation has been adamantly opposed by national Democrats, including Russ Feingold, who would rather ignore the problem and kick the can down the road for future generations.
Unfortunately, Radical Russ Feingold repeatedly stood on the wrong side of taxpayers by opposing a Balanced Budget Amendment during his tenure in the Senate. In fact, Feingold voted four times against the measure that would put our nation’s fiscal house in order. He called the legislation a “lousy” idea, instead lauding the failed stimulus package that cost hard-working taxpayers nearly $800 billion as a more effective way to balance the budget.
“Voters should be insulted that Russ Feingold would cast several votes against common-sense reforms that address America’s crushing debt crisis – and at the same time push failed policies, like Obamacare, that dramatically increased spending,” said Joe Fadness, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Feingold’s misguided votes against a Balanced Budget Amendment have contributed to the deplorable amount of debt our nation faces today.”
