Scott Walker Announces Budget Priorities
Responsible budget puts taxpayers first, moves state forward
[Madison, Wis.] – This evening, Governor Scott Walker announced his budget priorities. His initiatives focus on reducing the tax burden on hard-working taxpayers, maintaining and improving infrastructure programs, developing Wisconsin’s workforce, and enhancing education across the state.
Republican Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Joe Fadness released the following statement on the Governor’s budget proposal:
“Governor Walker’s bold, commonsense reforms have cut taxes, reduced regulations, and helped create an environment that brings businesses back to our state. This budget will build upon these successes and increase opportunity for all Wisconsinites.”
The budget contains additional property tax relief for hard-working families – and in 2017, the tax bill on a median value home will be the lowest in 30 years after adjusting for inflation. The budget also increases funding to develop Wisconsin’s workforce and connect workers with the jobs that are available. To improve educational opportunities, Governor Walker’s budget continues the freeze on UW system tuition and lifts the cap on statewide school choice so that parents can choose the best options for their children.
“By prioritizing job creation and putting the taxpayers in charge, Governor Walker has further proven his commitment to moving Wisconsin forward,” said Fadness.
