MADISON – More than a week ago, several media reports detailed the problems Dana Schultz is going to have with the people she is running to represent. 

Specifically, a blog from 2006 in which she used words like “racist, sexist, and homophobic,” to describe the people from her home area, and questioned why “people would go back to face fatter and less educated Ann Colture’s [sic].”

MADISON – Earlier this week, 14-year incumbent Congressman Ron Kind made sure to stay on the attack of Dan Kapanke and his charity. 

But what Ron Kind didn’t mention is the skeleton in his own closet. When Kind first ran for Congress, he raised hundreds of thousands from special interests and lobbyists, then cut himself a similar check. A year later, the Federal Election Commission even had to correct his under-reporting of his campaign’s obligations.

MADISON – The New York Times became the latest media outlet to turn its sights on Russ Feingold’s increasingly desperate re-election campaign, and the picture it found wasn’t pretty:

MADISON – Get ready to hold your nose, Wisconsin. Julie Lassa’s campaign began trashing the airwaves with its first TV attack ad today. And it kicked off with a whopper.

Julie Lassa’s campaign has relentlessly pushed a flat-out lie: that Sean Duffy wants to privatize Social Security.

MADISON – The Democrats’ relentless lie-and-smear campaign against Ron Johnson rolled ahead today, with perhaps the most bizarre sight yet: partisan hack Mike Tate hosting a conference call to lecture Ron Johnson on his business practices. 

According to Mark Jefferson, executive director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, the Democrats are getting more and more desperate as they try to save the Washington career of 30-year politician Russ Feingold.

MADISON – President Obama announced today that he will be visiting Wisconsin next Monday to address the crowd at Laborfest, Obama’s third trip to the state in the past few months. Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus issued the following statement in response:

“If he was speaking at ‘Unemployment Fest’ the crowd would be bigger. And probably not as happy.

MADISON – Early Saturday morning, the Republican campaign office in Cudahy, WI was vandalized by a group of four young men.   According to a witness, one of the men punched through the front window of the storefront, which was unoccupied at the time. This is not the first time a similar office was the subject of vandalism (see below.) Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus issued the following statement in response:

“This incident is a real shame, and this kind of thing should not be tolerated from either side.

“We’re a little more than two months away from a historic election and tensions are already high, but this isn’t the way Wisconsin operates.

“One broken window is nothing compared to the mess the Democrats have made over the last few years in Washington and Madison, and this incident isn’t going to stop us or scare us from working to make a much-needed change in the direction of our government.”
