Falk Opposes Northwoods Job Creation
[MADISON, WI]- Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Ben Sparks released the following statement regarding former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk’s lack of concern for job creation in the Northwoods:
"It comes as no surprise that Kathleen Falk came out yesterday against a mining initiative in the Wisconsin legislature that is projected to create over 3,000 jobs in the Northwoods, a region facing steep unemployment. Falk's opposition is completely in line with her long track record of liberal activism, which includes a distinguished career suing job creators as a government lawyer, and raising property taxes to satisfy her union allies as Dane County Executive.
"This initiative has received bipartisan support from Northwoods residents, including counties such as Iron, which has a whopping 9.9% unemployment rate. In addition to creating over 3,000 construction jobs, including an additional 2,800 to 5,600 long term mining jobs, the legislation is estimated to have a $2 billion economic impact on the local economy.
"Falk's attack on this job creation initiative proves that she is simply another Dane County liberal who is out of touch with struggling Northwoods residents who are out of work. She and her liberal allies have shown they will continue pushing their failed agenda to move our state backward to the era of rampant job loss and deficit spending that we experienced when Democrats controlled the Governor's mansion. In the face of this liberal opposition, Governor Walker continues to stand with all Wisconsinites, by balancing a $3.6 billion budget deficit without raising taxes, and creating thousands of jobs in his first year. Wisconsin voters have shown they'll continue to stand with Governor Walker in the face of Falk and her liberal allies' failing attempts to obstruct job creation in Wisconsin."
