The Wisconsin State Journal reports today that many UW System academic staff could be involuntarily assigned to a union at the discretion of the Wisconsin Employee Relations Commission.

Instead of choosing whether or not they would like to be represented by a union, the academic staff may be reclassified unwillingly.

Democrats who slipped this provision into the state budget have benefited from thousands of dollars of campaign support from union groups, and the questionable move at the expense of UW academic staff rights is largely perceived as payback for past and future support for Democratic Candidates.
