[Madison, Wis.] – In her first TV ad, Mary Burke falsely claimed unemployment in Wisconsin under Scott Walker is “up.” It was universally panned as a “Pants on Fire” lie, but Burke doubled down on the deception. However, when pressed on the ad yesterday, Burke admitted that unemployment under Walker is indeed down.
“At the same time Burke is running ads featuring a colossal lie, she hypocritically talks about bringing honesty to her campaign,” said Joe Fadness, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Voters deserve better than a candidate who delivers fluffy rhetoric but in reality promotes deception. Burke has changed her resume several times and now admits she is running a misleading ad – she can’t be trusted.”
