[Madison, Wis.] – Ashland City Council member Kelly Westlund announced her run for Congress in the 7th Congressional District today, but voters should take note: Westlund is an extreme partisan who has repeatedly raised taxes and opposed major job creation.
“Kelly Westlund would be nothing more than a blank check for Barack Obama and a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi’s backward agenda,” said Joe Fadness, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “With her failed record of raising taxes and adamantly opposing thousands of new jobs in Northwest Wisconsin, it’s clear that her agenda is not in line with the voters of her district.”
Westlund is out of touch and won’t support job growth in her own backyard. She has been an outspoken activist against the iron ore mine in her area, which will create thousands of good-paying jobs for middle-class families.
“Westlund’s record would fail Wisconsin,” continued Fadness. “We are confident the voters of the 7th Congressional District will continue to stand with Sean Duffy, a leader in the fight for fiscal sanity and job creation.”
